Visiting Edinburgh In Festival Season

(Tue Jul 13th, 2010, by Isla Campbell)

The Edinburgh International Festival, and other associated festivals taking place each August covering the entire spectrum of the arts, is a major draw for cultural tourists to Scotland's capital. With thousands of shows taking place throughout the day and night at venues across the city, Edinburgh becomes a haven for theatre, comedy and music lovers in the month of August - making it an ideal time to stop putting off trips to the city and experience the best Edinburgh has to offer beyond the Fringe. The capital of Scotland since 1437, Edinburgh is home to many of the country's most prestigious attractions - from historic Edinburgh Castle, which is still Scotland's most visited tourist destination, to modern attractions such as Our Dynamic Earth and Deep Sea World that aim to provide an insightful and entertaining experience for all the family. Many of Edinburgh's top attractions can be easily reached within the city centre, making sightseeing holidays a convenient option. Those visiting for the Edinburgh Festival can also find many of the largest dedicated venues within easy reach of these attractions, from the Assembly Rooms on centrally-located George Street to the Festival Theatre along the Bridges. Popular events such as the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo are hallmarks of the festival season, bringing performance styles from across the world into special events taking place right next to Edinburgh Castle. Those visiting at the climax of the festival can also see the sky come to life with dazzling fireworks displays, which can be the perfect send-off for Edinburgh flight. While it's true that the festival spirit takes over the city for the month of August, that doesn't mean it isn't business as usual for Edinburgh's popular year-round offerings. As a major international city, visitors can expect to find all manner of restaurants wherever they are staying in the city, as well as numerous shopping opportunities along Princes Street and in the St James Quarter. Hotel bookings are usually much more competitive during the month, however visitors should still find plenty of choice when looking for rooms suited to their budgets. Those who prefer a quieter and more reflective experience away from the vibrant street performances and crowds of the Royal Mile can also take a short trip out of the city centre to explore the 70 acres of Edinburgh's Botanic Gardens, a perfect way to enjoy the British summertime in one of the UK's greenest cities.

How to enjoy your visit to Kingston

(Tue Jul 13th, 2010, by Karen Thompson)

Kingston is the capital and cosmopolitan centre of not just Jamaica but the whole of Caribbean. The city, over the years has withstood disasters such as earthquakes, epidemics and fires and like the phoenix has risen from the ashes lively, vibrant and stronger than ever. It was here in Kingston that pirates once ran wild; however today it is arts and culture that reign supreme.

There is much that you can do and see in Kingston. To deviate a bit from the topic, it is also worth a mention that if you are visiting the island you can make all the difference to your trip by staying in jamica villas and cottages, ideally located in garden settings near the Caribbean Sea and offering you your own home away from home on the island.

Coming back to the activities you can do on the island, here are some options you can consider. You can start by visiting Hope Road and going by the number of attractions here, it could well be called Attractions Road.

Marley Museum: Jamaica is synonymous with Bob Marley and if you are a reggae fan you can visit this museum where you will find memorabilia, photos and clippings that bring him to life. You can also enjoy a 20-minute video show that has excerpts from his best concert performances.

Devon House: This early 19th century landmark was commissioned by George Stiebel, a shipwright who became Jamaica's first millionaire. The house is furnished with Caribbean antiques, including rich mahogany pieces. The courtyard has craft shops, restaurants, an internet café and bakery.

Hope Botanical Gardens and Zoo: This is also on Hope Road and has on display the West Indies' largest collection of plants and flowering trees. You can spend some time in the beautiful gardens.

The Coins and Notes Museum: Also known by the name Bank of Jamaica's Money Museum, it houses amongst others, uncut sheets of J$500 bills, tools used to make money, old beads, Spanish pieces of eight or more.

Emancipation Park: See the Redemption Song Statue, named after Bob Marley's celebration of freedom from slavery. The park also features a jogging track and is the site of many cultural events.

Golf: For the golf enthusiasts, there are two 18-hole courses, Constant Spring Golf Club and the Caymanas Golf Club, six miles west of Kingston.

If you are travelling with kids and want to indulge in some activities that are meant for adults, you could do well by staying in Jamaica villas and cottages that specifically cater to families. Take the case of Silver sand villas, a secure community of villas and cottages located on the beautiful north coast. The villas encompass a private beach and offer amongst others childcare facilities. Also, if you wish to relax and remain indoors there are enough amenities to keep you occupied.

Nairobi National Park is the oldest animal park in Kenya. Nairobi Kenya's National Park is set at an altitude of 5,000ft and covers an area of 117sq.km. It is only a mere 7 km from the Nairobi Kenya's central business district.

There are lots of famous tourist sites worth seeing. The Sun Island Scenic Area: It is a famous scenic spot to prevent sunstroke. It has an area of 38 square kilometers. It got the name of the island – "the Sun Island" because of two reasons. One reason is that the island's shape is like the sun. The other reason is that there are full of thin sands, which are spectacularly hot under the sun. The island is surrounded by rivers, so the scenery is very beautiful. In the winter, there often exhibits a lot of ice and snow sculptures, which attract visitors deeply. Different scenery in different seasons makes the Sun Island an advantaged natural scenic area.

The walls are made of red bricks. One huge onion dome commands four small wigwam domes, which makes the principal and subordinate overall arrangement. On the top of the frontispiece is the bell tower. Seven copper bells are just seven notes, which make beautiful music. The grand St. Sophia Church is really a precious building with exoticism.

The Central Avenue: It was first built in 1898. Later, it develops into the most flourishing street in Harbin. It is full of European-style buildings. This street is a rare architectural art corridor in China. It is also one of the longest pedestrian streets in Asia. The architectures with exoticism, the thriving shopping malls, and the colorful life of people make this street unique.

Harbin Ice and Snow World: It was first built in 1999. Actually, it is a large-scale exhibition hall of ice and snow sculptures and art. It shows to people the spectacular charm of the snow art and snow tourism. The works of the snow art are like a huge snow epic picture.

Ya Bu Li Skiing Ground: It is an excellent place to take a vacation in winter. The period from November to next March is the best skiing period. The facilities are perfect here. There are eleven ski runs in all. There is a round run for motors and sleds. If you want to experience an unforgettable winter holiday, come here!

Italian holidays for everyone

(Wed Jul 14th, 2010, by Ron Jackson)

The warm culture of Italy has something to offer everyone but with so much to choose from it can be hard to know where to start. Read on for some great ideas of where to go and what to get out of this beautiful European destination no matter what time of year you decide to go.

Singles looking for adventure will be spoilt for choice when it comes to exploring Italy, with its choice of lively city breaks, historical tours and unspoilt beaches. Take an escorted holiday to three or four typical Italian cities and be guided to the best spots before being left to explore uninterrupted; you never know, you might even find love in Venice, Lake Garda or underneath Juliet's balcony in Verona.

Newlyweds will be looking for time away from the crowds so look for those holidays that are tailored specifically to honeymooners. If you can, avoid the big cities during August which can come to a standstill as Italian folk shut up shop and head for sun, sea and sand with the extended family. Instead head for the Amalfi coast, Sorrento or the gorgeous island of Sardinia where if you do your research and book with a reputable holiday company, you'll be able to find a little corner of paradise to yourselves.

Couples looking for an Italian break with a mixture of guided tours to the most unspoilt of sceneries and time by themselves to explore the Italian lakes, mountains and exquisite food should look into Capri, the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. All three have fascinating histories and architecture for those who are interested and simply stunning crystal clear waters, coastlines and charming restaurants for those who just want to unwind and relax, bathed in Mediterranean warmth and Italian charisma.

Families with young children will not be short of things to do in Italy, especially during the school holidays but book early to avoid the high prices and consider Lake Garda as your destination. Lake Garda has risen in popularity over the last few years mainly because it has it all, from great weather and fresh authentic food all year round to endless outdoor activities from cycling and windsurfing to hiking and kayaking. You'll have as much fun kicking back in the café culture as you will do trying out a new activity with the kids.

Culture vultures will enjoy the rich history of a classic tour of Italy, taking in the ancient architecture of Rome, the incredible story behind the city of Pompeii and the religious turmoil experienced in Cassini and Assisi. History will be brought to life by experienced and knowledgeable guides who instead of boring you with endless facts will set battle scenes, paint classic masterpieces and leave you to explore rugged coastlines and lush greenery at your own pace.

Toluca Mexico - Cultural Icon of Mexico!

(Wed Jul 14th, 2010, by Linden Gray)

Looking to explore through the incredible culture of Mexico? Nothing can beat the cultural city of Toluca. Canadian wanderers interested in knowing the culture of the city never miss out on visiting the fascinating museums. You must be surprised to know that it is the second city in the whole of Mexico, if you consider the number of historical sites and museums. Architecture in the city is another thing that creates point of interest in the travelers visiting Toluca. While driving through beautiful alleys of the city, you will come across spectacular buildings featuring neoclassical architecture. While exploring through the city, you would find that Toluca is one of the best cities to stroll around and enjoy the vacation of your life in discos, bars, recreational areas, markets, hotels and museums.

According to the Mexican travel experts, you should not rely on your US or Canadian auto policies. Why? Mexican authorities do not honor foreign policies and you should have quality Maxico car insurance to get rid of any issues in which you can be detained if you get into an auto accident. Buying Maxico auto insurance at the border costs extra, and many insurers are not rated and do not provide the broadest coverage.

The city of Toluca is home to several national parks. One of the most famous and easily accessible parks is Sierra Morelos Park, which is located just four kilometers towards the northwest of the city. Canadian wanderers visit the park especially to spend a day in the richness of eucalyptus forest and pine trees. The park also features outdoor grills, rustic kiosks and tables placed by the lagoon where you can enjoy delicious meal while having fun with camping in the forest. Bosencheve National Park is another notable national park located in the outskirts of the city and acts as the most important water basins for Toluca. If you love hiking, this is the place you should never compromise on. The natural beauty is worth exploring while walking by the lagoon in the forest.

Museums are the backbone of the attractions in the city of Toluca. If you are interested in exploring through arts, you should visit Fine Art Museum and explore through paintings and sculptures that carry a great importance for the history and culture of the city. Other museums that are known for their paintings exhibitions are the Jose Maria Velasco and Felipe Gutierrez museums. History and Anthropology Museum is among the top choices of Canadian history lovers as the museums showcases an incredible collection of more than 7000 pieces.

The Exquisite Experience Of Bundaberg, Australia

(Wed Jul 14th, 2010, by Sidney Morgan)

Found on the banks of the Burnett River, Bundaberg city provides a lot of things to do for both tourists and its local people. Situated in Queensland and just 239 miles away from Brisbane, the city lies around 9.3 miles inland from the coastline. Mostly known as Bundy to the locals, the city is perhaps best known for exquisite beaches and oceanfront hotels and resorts.

This city has also been famous because of tourist spots like the Mon Repos Turtle Rookery and the Bundaberg Rum Distillery. Head over to the beaches, free from stingers, or maybe take a trip to the Bundaberg Barrel. Of course, who can every forget about the Great Barrier Reef? If you love driving around, you can also grab your 4WD and explore the eight National Parks.

Bundy, as the locals may call it, is found in the central part of the Wide Bay-Burnett. The combination of its name is said to originate from the Kabi Original term for 'important man' and the German term for 'mountain.' The city is also known as the Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, since it is located in the southern part of the reef. It is also quite near to two important islands: Lady Elliot and Lady Musgrave.

Don't be surprised if you see flying foxes around the day fanning throughout the city - they are simply looking for food. They live in the northern part of the river Burnett, around the bridges of Don Talon and Burnett. They leave at dusk, and they search during the day.

Tourists also find the Mystery Craters quite interesting, as these holes are said to be unknowingly and mysteriously filled with water. But of course, nothing beats the city's reputation for its beaches. The golden beach of Moore Park spans 20 kilometers, offering lots of places to bathe and sunbathe. As always, there are also other beaches all throughout the city, such as the Kellys Beach which gets filled up during the summer months.

Classified to have subtropical climate, the city has gentle winters and hot summers. The yearly rainfall is around 1141 millimeters. Typically, its beaches are its quite exquisite tourist spots for both Australians and other foreigners. Because of such temperatures, it is always pleasurable to be beside the ocean or the river.

The city is serviced with an airport, with regular flights to the capital, Brisbane, and to the Lady Elliot Island. Besides these flights, people can always take buses to other parts of the country. Its airport is found next to the Central Queensland University, although its main campus can be found in the city of North Rockhampton, also in Queensland.

It is considered as sister cities with Settsu City in Japan, and the Nanning City in China. The sugar industry is also well-established in the city, with both milling and refining of sugar present. As such, their sugar has been of export quality. Other kinds of produce also include watermelons, legumes, zucchinis and tomatoes. Aside from such, there's also the local beverage producer, the Bundaberg Brewed Drinks.
